There’s few artists that quite grab us by the earlobes like Billie Eilish. At the age of 17, the promising pop queen has released her acclaimed debut EP ‘dont smile at me.’ Produced by her 19-year old brother the record sets her up for a promising North American headlining tour with only 1x show left to sell out.
Blending whispering soprano with melodic trap-influenced beats, the BBC are already hailing her as ‘pop’s best new hope.’ On the EP fans will get to hear two brand-new, previously unheard tracks. The first being “party favor,” a delightful ditty “about breaking up with someone in a voicemail…on their Birthday” Billie explains and “hostage,” a song that borders on and explores the unhealthy side of love. Billie points out “when you are so in love that you feel like you can’t be without them and you can’t see them with someone else. It is not a healthy feeling but I think everyone feels it at some point.”
Enjoy the record below and sink into the next in line for the throne. Whilst you’re at it, grab tickets to her Auckland show on Monday 11th September here.
