Linkin Park front man Chester Bennington tragically took his own life on July 20th. As celebrities and fans mourned the loss of a icon of the scene, his legacy has not been forgotten.
‘One More Light’ was never intended to be a single but after the passing of Chester fans around the world took liking to the single. The track was intended to be a tribute to those that have loss loved ones, now Linkin Park and its adoring fan base are in that position. The emotional ballad was one of the last songs Chester has recorded. The video is dedicated to Chester and shows some of his final moments with the bands, along with videos of Chester performing ‘One More Light’ live. Earlier in the week Chester’s wife has posted videos and photos of the frontman laughing and smiling with his family just hours before passing away.
Chester will always go down as one of the great innovators in the scene, whether it be his collab album with Jay-Z or leading one of the best punk bands of our time.
Fortunately in New Zealand we have many organisations to help combat mental health and reduce our suicide rates. Whether it is yourself or your loved ones, reach out and help as there is always going to be someone for you.
