The Bad Boy Records founder, Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs is one of the biggest businessmen in the music industry. His label at one point held Notorious B.I.G and Lil Kim and now holds acts such as French Montana and Cassie. The exclusive Apple Music documentary follows the process of Diddy putting on the Bad Boy Records Reunion shows in honour of Biggie.
Through the film we get glimpses into the insight of how hard working Diddy was to achieve his dream along with his peers praising him with ‘genius’ like status. The documentary takes you through Diddy’s earlier stages in his career, including on how the death of Biggie had its effect on the music landscape. However the documentary’s primary focus is based on the two-show events in Brooklyn last year. His desire for perfection and greatness is clearly evident in the behind-the-scenes look where he is constantly pushing his creatives and musicians. Interestingly the present day footage is shot entirely in black and white until the night of the last show, which was on Biggie’s birthday.
The documentary is a must-watch for anybody that is fan of the history of hip-hop and wanting to know what it takes to make it in the music industry.
