Starting off as just a producer, Danny Barwick has come out of his comfort zone to release his self produced and written debut EP ‘Distance’.
A background as a drummer and a degree in philosophy is just the surface of Barwick’s talent. His EP truly allowed him to create his own unique sound, many of them coming from everyday sounds such as door-hinges and glass scrapings. Fusing them together with a soulful, electronic sound that has made ‘Distance’ completely unique in its own right. Barwick explains how his writing process came about through writing poems then matching them with sampling sounds. The 4-track EP is led by ‘Flickering’ which boasts Barwick’s creative sampling of a 19th century piano along with pitched up vocals. A saxophone solo even makes an appearance on ‘These Arms’ to give each a track its own unique sound. While he had a break in 2015 to study, we are certainly glad he came back to music to express his creativity through this one-of-a-kind project. Barwick is rumoured to be working on a follow up EP for early 2018.
‘Distance’ is available now on all streaming platforms.
