Four years after the success of their debut Days Are Gone, Haim follow up album Something to Tell You has arrived.
Three sisters who start a band makes for an interesting story. Days are Gone had the talent to back them up, the influence of throwback pop (think 70’s Fleetwood Mac and 80’s Michael Jackson) apparent.
Coming in hot on their sophomore album, those throwback influences are still present. Taking the album in a strong pop direction, Something to Tell You experiments with sounds reminiscent of 60’s pop, right through to 90’s r n b. The strong pop direction isn’t surprising, with the help of super pop producers Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend), Dev Hynes (Blood Orange) and Ariel Rechtshaid, (who’s worked with Adele, Usher, Solange Knowles, and more) enlisted.
Recorded primarily in their parents living room, the sophomore album doesn’t stray too far from home, but the sisters still manage to develop their sound and bring something new to the table. Listen to Something To Tell You below.
